COLUMBUS, Ohio – The nonpartisan group Voices for Ohio’s Children has named state Rep. Michael Stinziano a Legislative Champion for his tireless work and advocacy efforts on child welfare issues.
The award follows Stinziano’s sponsorship of bills including Ohio’s new law protecting young athletes from sustaining serious head injuries as a result of returning to play too soon after suffering a concussion, addressing infant mortality education and prevention, bullying, and regulating children’s use tanning of tanning beds, which can lead to skin cancer.
“I am so proud to be recognized by Voices for Ohio’s Children, whose work has improved the lives of countless children throughout Ohio. Ensuring that our children are safe, healthy, educated, connected, and employable is a bipartisan effort, and I will continue to work hard to find common sense solutions that help Ohio’s children,” said Stinziano, a Columbus Democrat.
Voices for Ohio’s Children is a statewide group dedicated to ensuring the needs of Ohio’s three million children are prioritized at the local, state and federal levels of government. Among the issues that the group addresses are child poverty, violence, infant mortality and school drop out rates.
