COLUMBUS – State Rep. Michael Stinziano (D- Columbus) was recently appointed to serve on two of the National Conference of State Legislatures 12 standing committees, the Labor and Economic Development as well as the Redistricting and Elections committees.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to contribute to an organization committed to improving our state legislatures and to serve my fellow legislators in my capacity as a member of these two committees,” Stinziano said.
The National Conference of State Legislatures is a bipartisan organization that is led by legislators and staff from all 50 states and territories. NCSL aims to improve the quality and effectiveness of state legislatures, promote policy innovation and communication amongst states, and to give states one, cohesive voice in the federal government.
“I believe that my experience as Director of the Franklin County Board of Elections and my time spent serving on the House State Government and Elections Committee allow me to bring a unique perspective to the Redistricting and Elections Committee.,” said Stinziano.
The Redistricting and Elections Committee will focus on redistricting, election law and campaign regulation, including legal, technical, and political issues, the conduct of elections, and the regulation of campaign finance.
“Economic development has been one of my top priorities as a State Representative,” Stinziano said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on the committee on ideas to stimulate job growth, improve our neighborhoods and to help train the next generation of workers.”
The Labor and Economic Development Committee addresses issues related to labor, employment, workforce and economic development, and international trade and cultural affairs
