Central Ohio Labor Council AFL-CIO Endorses Stinziano for City Council

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Central Ohio Labor Council AFL-CIO, representing more than 50,000 members, has endorsed Rep. Michael Stinziano in his bid for the Columbus City Council.

“I’m proud to receive the support of the AFL-CIO and thank the hardworking men and women of the Central Ohio Labor Council for their support,” said Stinziano.  “On Council, creating more and better jobs to grow our economy and restore economic prosperity will be my top priority.  I am dedicated to creating jobs, fund essential services to promote neighborhood safety, support our schools, and provide our community with effective and responsive constituent service.”

“Working together with local unions to improve the quality of workers’ lives and to strengthen the economy in Central Ohio is key to our economic recovery.  Job growth is essential to the economic strength and business climate in Columbus. It’s not only how we retain and attract business, but also how we can ensure that more people have access and opportunities to gainful and fair employment.”

Stinziano, a Columbus Democrat, is a proven leader in creating jobs that grow Ohio’s economy.  He has championed legislation that fosters small business growth to create, retain, and sustain good paying jobs in Central Ohio.

The endorsement adds to a growing group of community organizations, elected officials, and business and labor leaders that support Stinziano’s candidacy for Council, including Teachers For Better Schools; Stonewall Democrats of Central Ohio; the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 6; Sheet Metal Workers Local 24; Sprinkler Fitters Local 669; Teamsters Local 284; and the Franklin County Democratic Party.

The Central Ohio Labor Council also endorsed incumbent Council Members Shannon Hardin, Zach Klein, Michelle Mills, and Jaiza Page in the General Election.
