COLUMBUS, OHIO - Teachers for Better Schools, the political action arm of the Columbus Education Association, have endorsed state Rep. Michael Stinziano in his bid for the Columbus City Council.
“I thank the dedicated teachers of our community for their support,” said Stinziano. “Council can and should continue to play a role to improve education in Columbus. We can and must ensure that all children enter kindergarten ready to learn, I support the recommendation of the Columbus Education Commission to do all we can to help make high-quality Pre-K education affordable to all and to hold all Pre-K education providers to high standards."
The endorsement adds to a growing group of community organizations, elected officials, and business and labor leaders that support Stinziano’s candidacy for Council, including the Franklin County Democratic Party; Stonewall Democrats of Central Ohio; the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 6; Sheet Metal Workers Local 24; Sprinkler Fitters Local 669; and Teamsters Local 284.
Stinziano is running in the May 5 primary election. The general election is in November.
Teachers for Better Schools also endorsed sitting Council members Shannon Hardin, Zach Klein, Council President Pro Tem Michelle Mills, and Jaiza Page for Council.
