The Central Ohio Group of the Sierra Club, representing more than 5,000 people in Central Ohio, has endorsed Rep. Michael Stinziano’s election to the Columbus City Council.
“I’m excited to receive the endorsement of the Central Ohio Sierra Club and thank local members of America’s largest and most influential grassroots organization for their support,” said Stinziano. “On Council, I look forward to working with the Sierra Club to promote renewable energy, clean water, and sustainable transportation.”
“Working together with members of the Sierra Club, I will support policies that balance growth and development in our community with preserving green space as well as supporting the expansion of the Columbus Office of Environmental Stewardship to further encourage consideration of the environment in all aspects of city planning and governance.”
The Central Ohio Sierra Club’s endorsement is the 16th endorsement that Rep. Stinziano has received this year from a growing group of community organizations, elected officials, and business and labor leaders that support his candidacy for Council, including The Columbus Dispatch; The African American News Journal; OCSEA AFSCME Local 11; the Fraternal Order of Police; Columbus Professional Firefighters Local 67; Teachers For Better Schools; the Central Ohio Labor Council AFL-CIO; Stonewall Democrats of Central Ohio; Young Elected Progressives; the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 6; Sheet Metal Workers Local 24; Sprinkler Fitters Local 669; Teamsters Local 284; Franklin County Young Democrats; and the Franklin County Democratic Party.
Rep. Stinziano is running with Council Members Jaiza Page, Zach Klein, Shannon Hardin, and Council candidate Elizabeth Brown in the November election.
