Coalition of Black Trade Unionists Recommend Stinziano

COLUMBS, Ohio—The Columbus chapter of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) recommend  Rep. Michael Stinziano for re-election in the November 2014 election.

The Coalition of Black Trade Unionists has members from seventy-seven international and national unions with forty two chapters across the country. According to their mission, “CBTU seeks to fulfill the dream of those Black trade unionists, both living and deceased, who throughout this century have courageously and unremittingly struggled to build a national movement that would bring all our strengths and varied talents to bear in the unending effort to achieve economic, political and social justice for every American.”

Stinziano, a Columbus democrat, was pleased to receive the recommendation. “The Columbus chapter of the CBTU is an important organization in our community, organizing essential services including voter registration, efforts to improve working and living conditions, opportunities for job training, and more to help ensure equality for all Ohioans, “ said Stinziano. “I’m honored to receive their recommendation and will uphold our shared values of economic, political, and social equality throughout my service in the Ohio House.”

The recommendation by CBTU adds to a growing and diverse group of labor organizations who support Stinziano’s efforts to make central Ohio the best place in the state to live, work, raise a family and grow a business.

These organizations include: Service Employees International Union 1199; Central Ohio Labor Council, AFL-CIO; Ohio Federation of Teachers; American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Ohio Council 8; Columbus Firefighters Union Local 67; Ohio Civil Service Employees Association AFSCME Local 11;  and the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge #9.
