COLUMBUS, Ohio -- AFSCME Ohio Council 8 has endorsed state Rep. Michael Stinziano in the November general election.
The American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees Ohio Council 8 represents more than 37,000 state and local government employees and retirees.
"Public services and the dedicated employees who provide them are the foundation of a viable and vibrant state and the local communities within it," said the endorsement letter signed by John A. Lyall, president of AFSCME Ohio Council 8, John Clark, President, AFSCME Retiree Chapter 1184 and Robert A. Davis, political and legislative director of AFSCME Ohio Council 8.
"This endorsement reflects your commitment to our shared values and concerns," the endorsement letter said.
Stinziano, a Columbus Democrat, said he was pleased to earn the group's support.
"I look forward to working with the hard-working men and women of AFSCME,." Stinziano said. "I will continue to support and protect collective bargaining for public employees in Ohio."
The endorsement by AFSCME adds to a growing and diverse number of organizations who support Stinziano’s efforts to make central Ohio the best place in the state to live, work, raise a family and grow a business.
That group includes SEIU 1199, Central Ohio Labor Council – AFL-CIO, the Columbus Education Association, the Ohio Federation of Teachers, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio, the Ohio Restaurant Association, and the Columbus/Central Ohio Building Trades Council.
