COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus Dispatch, one of the largest and most respected newspapers in Ohio, has endorsed state Rep. Michael Stinziano for re-election.
In The Dispatch’s Oct. 6 endorsement, the newspaper’s editorial board said “... Stinziano is a pragmatist interested in good public policy. Stinziano has been a voice of reason and bipartisanship.”
The Dispatch’s editorial board said Stinziano, a Columbus Democrat, has sponsored “good legislation” to allow online voter registration and noted that he has worked with members across the political aisle on legislation that would allow patients and their families to set up surveillance cameras in nursing homes to better protect their family members.
The Dispatch’s editorial board made mention of Stinziano’s service in local government: “Between 2008 and 2010, Stinziano, a Democrat, served very capably as director of the Franklin County Board of Elections the second-largest voting jurisdiction in Ohio.”
“I’m honored that the area’s largest newspaper is supporting me,” Stinziano said. “I’ll work hard every day to represent my constituents and make central Ohio the best place in our state to live, work, raise a family and grow a business.”
