COLUMBUS, Ohio – State Rep. Michael Stinziano, a Columbus Democrat, has been named Legislator of the Year by the Ohio Association of County Boards, the organization that represents the county boards of developmental disabilities.
“I am humbled to receive this award,” said Stinziano. “It’s important to provide support and services to those who are impacted by developmental disabilities.”
Stinziano received the award at the 30th Annual Ohio Association of County Boards Convention.
According to the association, Stinziano was honored for sponsoring legislation that positively impacts people with developmental disabilities, including legislation that would remove the word “handicapped”, a derogatory term, from the Ohio Revised Code.
Also, according to the organization, Stinziano was honored for his ongoing support at legislative forums and agency visits.
The award is presented every year to an elected or appointed official who exhibits “high accomplishments in legislative leadership for people with developmental disabilities.”
